Studio Maestro, founded in 1995 by Rose Caiola, has become New York’s premiere classical ballet academy. Adhering to a curriculum based upon European methods and pedagogy, it is a place of innovation and opportunity for our dancers. When we occupy our new facility in the fall of 2007, our graded pre-professional ballet program will become Manhattan Youth Ballet, a not-for-profit arts corporation.
Studio Maestro and Manhattan Youth Ballet are the culmination of Ms. Caiola’s efforts for the past twelve years to create a viable and curriculum-based ballet academy in the United States. Based on the French School of classical technique and modeled after the great schools of Europe, her pre-professional program is the only one of its kind in this country. Former students of Studio Maestro now dance with American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, Boston Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Washington Ballet and Complexion among others.
The location on 68th Street between Columbus Avenue and Central Park West is the birth place of Studio Maestro. For the past twelve years we have developed a pre-professional ballet academy based on the French School of classical technique.
The studio is also host to several other dance and exercise form such as, Luigi Jazz Centre, Nalini Method, Shuffles, West Side Music Together, In Grandma’s Attic, Flamenco, and Wu Mei Gongfu.
Studio Maestro @ 68th Street offers three individual studio spaces for rental on long-term and short-term bases available for private or group lessons. Studios space is generally rented for fitness, dance rehearsals, martial arts, auditions, various forms of children’s classes and piano and voice lessons.
Our studios are equipped with central air conditioning, men’s and women’s locker rooms/bathrooms. Each of our studios are outfitted with Marley flooring, stereo systems, upright pianos, mirrored walls, and ballet barres.
