Beth Fried

Beth Fried was born and raised in New York; she grew up with her mother and two sisters in a small two-bedroom apartment on the upper west side of Manhattan. At the age of five, she began to master her artistic abilities and entered her work into many contests. At the age of twelve, she won the young artist award from the School of Visual Arts for her paintings "Lilies" and "Emotions", and then attended the college for one semester on scholarship at the age of thirteen.

In 1995, she attended Beacon High School, for the next four years she spent most of her time in the art studio and photo lab. Beth graduated from high school in spring1999 with honors in Art, Science, and English. She applied to many art colleges away from the city and received a full scholarship to SUNY Alfred, SUNY Purchase, and a part scholarship to Cornish College of the Arts.

In fall of 1999, she moved 3,000 miles away from home to pursue her art education at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington. One year and 36 credits later, she moved back home to New York and transferred to Borough of Manhattan Community College where she received an associate's degree in computer programming in the fall of 2003.
